SALT – Community Conversations
Thanks to those who “voted” for particular discussion topics. We are in the process of setting up times for the 3 most popular choices: Theology – The role of God in our identity, church & society; Children, church and Christian formation; and, Social isolation. Stay tuned for when these conversations will happen!
Theological Shifts, Shake-Ups and Rumblings in the 21st Century—here at St. Andrew’s!

Lenten Lunch Summary
A total of $680.60 was raised at our Lenten Lunches. Through our Outreach Program, this money will go to St. Edmund’s Food Bank. And thanks to those who joined us to support this cause and share fellowship over soup.

In partnership with a local elementary school, the University of Calgary Nursing Student cohort is supporting a clothing drive for the winter of 2019/2020. We are requesting your assistance through the donation of new or gently used clothing items for students. Due to Calgary’s abundance of extreme cold days, we are specifically requesting jackets and other warm clothes. For our K-6 students, we are looking for new or gently used (pre-washed and in good repair): Jackets , Hoodies , Sweaters , Snow pants , Toques or warm hats , Gloves or mittens.
We would also appreciate brand new socks, still in their packaging. Drop clothing items off at St. Andrew’s in the box across from Kate’s office. Donations will be accepted up to June 1, 2019. Come to Preaching Grace with The Rev. Dr. Lillian Daniel! Friday, May 3 to Sunday, May 5, 2019
Do you ever find yourself apologizing for mistakes that religions have made – even though these mistakes do not reflect you, your religion or your faith? Do you tend to choose silence over speaking up when it comes to your faith?
You’re not alone.
This year’s keynote speaker at Preaching Grace, the Rev. Dr. Lillian Daniel, found herself apologizing for almost every mistake in Christianity. So she wrote her latest book, Tired of Apologizing for a Church I Don’t Belong To. Now, she speaks across North America, helping people learn how to share faith stories without being jerks about it.
Here in Calgary, Dr. Daniel is our featured speaker at Preaching Grace, 2019, and leads:
- A Friday evening lecture, titled Church: Awesome or Awful? (May 3, free of charge, registration required)
- A Saturday workshop with lunch, Dare to Declare: Between Silence and Speech About God (May 4, See early bird, pair & regular pricing)
- Sunday morning worship (Sun, May 5, everyone welcome)
Parking!!
Foothills Village Condo Board has voted to allow us to park in their VISITOR parking on Sunday mornings until 1pm. They have also reopened the fence from their property to our alley! A big thanks to Patrick Carmichael, President of the Board for being such a good friend to St. Andrew’s! If you do receive a ticket, please let Christine know, so we can work out any kinks in the system.
Driver(s) Wanted! We have a few parishioners living at Chartwell Colonel Belcher who need a ride to come to church. It is only a 5 minute drive from church and you need space for a walker. Please let Christine know if you are willing to help fill this pastoral need.
