Once again, there have been several phishing attempts reported to the Diocesan Office. If you receive a request from Archbishop Greg, Rev. John or one of our staff asking for your help or the purchase of gift cards, and you are suspicious, please do not respond and delete the email.
Phishing is an attempt by cybercriminals posing as legitimate institutions, usually via email, to obtain sensitive information from targeted individuals. Phishing emails may look extremely authentic. Here are some tips on how to protect your confidential personal information:
· Do not click on links OR open attachments in emails or messages from people that you do not know.
· Remember that the Archbishop or the staff or clergy would never ask you for assistance in this way.
· Look out for spelling or grammatical errors.
· Check the sender’s email address or the Reply email address. Is this address the same as you would usually see from this person or organization?
· Be cautious with any unexpected messages. When in doubt, delete.
· if you are unsure, please contact the church office (403-282-3234) before you open the email or reply to the email

A Joyous Announcement
Your wardens and council have worked with the Diocese and we are pleased to announce that Rev John Chuol’s tenure with us as Interim Priest has been extended to Dec 31st, 2023. This ensures our parish will maintain our worship and church activities while we search for a new Incumbent and also provides Rev John with solidity as he plans for his future.
Pentecost Bible Study
Rev. John will be hosting a Pentecost Bible Study on Wednesdays at 1:30 pm during July and August. All are welcome!

Do you have a passion for cycling? Baking? Hiking? Reading? No matter what your favourite activity, you’re invited to join the PWRDF Wild Ride and put your stamp on it with your creative participation.
The PWRDF Wild Ride campaign will run until October 8, 2022 in support of our partners who work with refugees or internally displaced persons (IDPs).
PWRDF is proud to welcome Canada Helps as our fundraising partner this year. Throughout the summer, participants can join a team or start a team to fundraise for PWRDF. Participants will register for the Wild Ride through a Canada Helps platform that is embedded on our website. PWRDF Wild Ride is replacing Ride for Refuge, which we have participated in since 2014. However, with significant changes being made to that event in 2022, we have decided to organize our own campaign.
During the pandemic, we were encouraged by participants who ventured out on their own to create their own challenge. Those who want to cycle or walk this year can set their own courses. Archbishop Linda Nicholls, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, will again be lending her considerable musical talents to present two Hymn Sings on Facebook Live on September 22 and 24 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Request your favourite hymn when you make your donation to her campaign!
Restorative Yoga Class
Mondays, August 8 to 29, 7:00 – 8:00 pm
This class will be held on Monday evenings from August 8 to 29, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, in the sanctuary of St. Stephen Anglican Church (1121 – 14th Avenue SW, Calgary), and led by Susannah Horgan. Classes are open to all levels of experience and will provide participants with a quiet space in which to pause, breathe, stretch and connect. There is no cost, but donations are accepted for the purchase of mats and equipment for future classes.

Education for Ministry (EfM)
Registration is currently underway for the 2022/2023 sessions. If you are looking for a way to deepen your understanding of the Christian faith and to enhance the connection between what you believe and how you live your daily life, this may be for you. Please feel free to join the choir! St Andrews has a great group of people who love to sing and we welcome new members for a season or for the year:) Practices are on each week til Easter and we have old and new anthems that we are practicing to sing! When? Sunday mornings at 9:15! What a wonderful way to start the day!We practice anthems that will be upcoming, as well as hymns for the service. End of Life/MAiD Conference – Sept. 9 & 10, 2022
Listen to speakers and panel discussions and engage in an honest conversation regarding death and end of life decisions. Be better prepared to have these discussions with family and friends when the need arises.
Advance registration is required. Registration is $10 per person for Friday evening or $50 per person for the full conference (Friday evening and Saturday) plus applicable service fees. Lunch will be provided on Saturday.

Irish Poet Pádraig Ó Tuama
We are delighted that Irish poet, theologian and mediator Pádraig Ó Tuama will travel to Calgary to be with us this fall from November 4 to 6th. More information will come in future updates and registration will open later this summer. In the meantime, mark your calendars and plan to be with us hopefully in person (although don’t worry, all events will be livestreamed if you can’t be with us in Calgary)!
