Latest Financial News
Your spiritual and financial contributions are critical to our ministry and we thank you for all you give to St. Andrew’s! Our October financial statement shows that we slightly improved our giving profile for the year, but that we likely will have a shortfall at year end. Our year-to-date deficit is now at $24,022 compared to $23,606 in September, (higher than budgeted). FYI some extra unplanned costs did occur this year, such as $775 for elevator control cable repairs and $940 for further church roof repairs to fix leaks from last winter. So we ask you to look in your hearts and determine if you can help reduce this further by year end. (Additional offering envelopes are available in the Narthex or use the Donate button under the “Giving Back” tab on our website)
Christmas Cakes
Jacob & Annie Philipose will be selling Christmas cakes this morning in support of the Canoffer Society of Alberta. Cakes are still $15 and are in limited supply. First come, first served!
Christmas Tea & Bazaar
Our annual Christmas Tea and Bazaar was another success. Fellowship was enjoyed by everyone along with tea, sandwiches and sweets. Just over $1600.00 was raised for our church. Many thanks to Helen Perry for organizing our annual tea and to those who baked, made preserves, helped out in the kitchen and served our guests. We appreciate everyone’s contribution.
Women’s Christmas Potluck
All ladies of the Parish are invited to attend the Christmas Potluck on Monday, December 3. Start time will be 6:00 p.m. with the food being served at 6:30. Please bring a Potluck food dish ( a ham will be prepared by the convenors) OR a bottle of wine (non-alcoholic punch will be available) AND a personal gift (not wrapped) for a woman at AVENTA. Flyers with gift suggestions for AVENTA will be posted around the Church. We look forward to breaking bread with you. Your Convenors – Carole Thomson and Lorraine Cook.
Calgary Drop In Centre Christmas Gift
In 2007, then Chef Greg said he wished he could serve the clients a hot breakfast every morning. That year at Christmas, St. Andrews provided 356 lbs. of oatmeal to the DI..a year’s supply. Since then, through your generous support, St. Andrews has provided the DI with 3325 lbs of food. Chefs Cindy and Glen have requested a gift of coffee again this year. On behalf of the DI Lunch Bunch, I invite you to contribute a donation of ground coffee (no decaf or beans) if you are able, or Carole Thomson will be happy to shop for you if you would like to make a cash donation. The collection basket for the coffee will be in the Narthex as of November 6th. Blessings and thank you from the DI staff and clients…and from the “St. Andrews Lunch Bunch” who so faithfully serve at the DI throughout the year. Carole Thomson
