Palm Sunday
In preparation to enter Holy Week on Palm Sunday, I encourage you to pull out your Advent wreath, or just have 4 candles on hand. We will light them in joyous remembrance of Jesus’ Incarnation and celebration of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, and then slowly extinguish them as we walk with Jesus through the week.
You will also want to have some kind of branch on hand, to wave in procession!

The church has moved back to regular office hours. The office is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 3 pm.

Lent Madness Returns! Voting for your favourite saint begins Feb 18 with the first match-up of Camillus de Lellis vs. Matthias. Please contact Pat Kover (403-968-1520; pakover@telus.net) to order your “Saintly Scorecard” and/or sign-uphere to vote and receive emails with the match-ups!
Kneed to Pray – Join us on Zoom Tuesdays at midday (12noon) for 6 weeks, beginning Feb 23 for a simple time of prayer. No experience necessary! For Zoom link contact Susan Chivers or the office.

Holy Week and Easter services
Our services for this Holy Week will continue to be via Zoom (links to follow), with added opportunities for Holy Communion (in-person) on Easter Sunday:
April 1, Maundy Thursday, 8:00pm – We remember Jesus’ Last Supper with the disciples, the tender love of feet, and the subsequent scattering.
April 2, Good Friday, 11:00am – We meditate on Jesus’ cross.
April 3, The Great Vigil of Easter, 8:00pm – Join Archbishop Greg for the first celebration of Easter via a livestream service on Facebook. Click here for access.
April 4, Easter Sunday, 7:00am – An outdoor, sunrise Eucharist service on the bluff in St. Andrew’s Heights. You MUST register with the office as numbers are limited due to Covid.
April 4, Easter Sunday, 9:30am – Our now familiar zoom gathering with a celebratory service of the word and special offering from the choir.
April 4, Easter Sunday, 11:00am – A short, contemporary language Eucharist service in the church. You MUST register with the office as numbers are limited due to Covid protocols.
If you wish to receive communion on Easter Sunday, but would prefer to remain in your car, please indicate your interest with Christine.

2021 Offertory Envelopes are ready to be picked up from St. Andrew’s, whenever that is possible. Some have already been delivered and if you are concerned about receiving yours then contact John MacKinnon, 403-282-0074, johnm9@telus.net
and we’ll arrange to get them delivered. A few people will be using new envelope numbers as we order a smaller quantity each year.
Zoom Choir!
Nancy will be holding Zoom singing practice on Thursday evenings at 7pm from October 1st so all can join in from the comfort of home! This is for choir members and all others who have missed singing and wish to join in.

Abundant Communities
Calgary Alliance for the Common Good has received a mental health grant and can now expand our Calgary Neighbourhood Project. If you or someone you know is a great community connector, and interested in building relationships on their block, we’d love to have you join us. We meet monthly to build skills around community development, generate ideas and support each other as we work to build relationships and civic on a block level. Calgary CARES senior empowerment project will:
> Promote volunteerism among seniors and other generations
> Engage seniors in the community through the mentoring of others
> Expand awareness of elder abuse during COVID lockdown
> Support the social participation and inclusion of seniors

Come and Let Us Pray Together
At the most recent meeting of the AFP executive we discussed ways that we could respond and help people dealing with the COVID pandemic. Our response is to say why we don’t we do what we do best- and that is to pray.
We will be hosting a one-hour time of prayer on December 21, January 18, and February 15 at 1:00pm Eastern time. It will be a mixture of biblical readings, reflection, music, intercession, silence and other types and kinds of pray. You are welcome to actively participate or simply listen and pray quietly.
We will use the “Zoom” way of gathering people together. For more information see the weekly email.
Did You Know…?
We have copies of the personal devotions “Our Daily Bread” at the church for for September through to November. They can be picked up in the narthex if you’re at the church or we can drop one in the mail for you if you contact us!
