SALT – Community Conversations
Thanks to all 24 people who participated in one of our small group discussions recently. We found the conversations to be diverse, informative, heartfelt and rich. It’s never too late to join the conversation, so please let one of us know if you’d like to add your voice. SALT is meeting again this Tuesday to reflect on the 3 meetings and determine next steps. You’re welcome to come along to time of discernment. Stay tuned for further updates! SALT is Dave Thomson, Dick Ridley, Mitch Goodjohn and Rev. Christine.

LENTEN ACTIVITIES !
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
Our annual Pancake Supper is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5th, this year. The men of St. Andrew’s organise this event and are looking for volunteers to help put on this supper. There will be a volunteer sign up list on the bulletin board leading into the downstairs hall. Please add your name to this list if you are able to help, or contact me by phone or email. John MacKinnon 403-282-0074 johnm9@telus.net
Ash Wednesday, Mar 6 @ 7:00pm, “Imposition of Ashes” service.
We enter Lent with the sign of ashes, an ancient sign, speaking of the frailty and uncertainty of human life. This quiet service gives us the space to remember our mortality and thereby encourage us to fullness of life.
Theological Shifts, Shake-Ups and Rumblings in the 21st Century—here at St. Andrew’s!
Wednesdays from March 13 to April 10, 1:00 – 2:30 pm
Led by The Rev. Anna Greenwood-Lee and The Rev. Christine Conkin, this series will start with the premise outlined by Phyllis Tickle in her book, The Great Emergence that the Church and society today are undergoing a shift of the size and significance which we have not seen since the Reformation. We will then talk about some of the changes already happening and some that might be coming. We look at writings and videos from some of the biggest voices on the religious landscape today: Richard Rohr, Desmond Tutu, Nadia Bolz-Weber, Peter Rollins, Brian McLaren, Cynthia Bourgeault, and Ilia Delio. We will talk about what these shifts and changes might mean to how we understand the authority of the Bible, the authority of science, the authority of Jesus, and the authority of the head and the heart. No charge but please register by emailing adminassist@stlaurence.
Kneed to Pray
Connect with the Divine and lift your soul to God. For 6 Tuesdays in Lent, March 12, 19, 26, April 2, 9, 16, you are invited to join a time of simple, communal prayer. 12:10-12:50pm. Beginners welcome! Please contact Susan (chiverss@telus.net or 403-247-4011) for more information.

Calgary Alliance for the Common Good
The Indigenous Gathering Place (IGP) is an Indigenous-led community-driven collective vision of a physical space where peoples of Calgary and area could learn and practice cultural, historical and spiritual traditions associated with Indigenous ancestry.
As we get closer to securing a geographical location, the IGP is hosting a series of community conversations to help us better understand HOW an Indigenous Gathering Place in Calgary will be used.
The conversations will be happening from February 1 to March 15, 2019 and we’ll share back what we heard at a celebration event in April.

Parking!!
Foothills Village Condo Board has voted to allow us to park in their VISITOR parking on Sunday mornings until 1pm. They have also reopened the fence from their property to our alley! A big thanks to Patrick Carmichael, President of the Board for being such a good friend to St. Andrew’s! If you do receive a ticket, please let Christine know, so we can work out any kinks in the system.
Driver(s) Wanted! We have a few parishioners living at Chartwell Colonel Belcher who need a ride to come to church. It is only a 5 minute drive from church and you need space for a walker. Please let Christine know if you are willing to help fill this pastoral need.
