Baby Food Blitz
Hello Everyone….it’s Baby Food Blitz time of year again to support the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank.  During our original tour of the Food Bank, we were told that baby food is at the top of their Needs List, and that fact continues to this time.  Donations of baby cereal or jars of baby food would be gratefully received.  In the past, some folks have preferred to give a cash donation and have Carole Thomson do the shopping.  I will gladly do that again this year.  The Blitz is running all month…May 1-31.  Last year was a record year, with 320 pounds of baby food collected.   Thank you for your support of this ministry.

SALT – Community Conversations
Follow-up discussions are now scheduled for later in Easter season, on Sunday afternoons, beginning at 12:30pm (after the 10:30am service coffee time). On Sun. May 26 we will consider theologically the role of God in our identity, church & society; and, on Sun. June 2 we will discuss Social Isolation. All are invited to join these times of connection through conversation.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Centre!  Also on the website are employment opportunities for Summer Youth Staff for 15-20 people.

Brother Emile from the Community of Taize will be in Calgary to lead a public Taize Prayer.  Everyone is welcome to attend this free event – whether you’ve loved Taize music for years, or have never experienced this style of worship before.  Taize is an ecumenical Christian religious community in Burgundy, France known all over the world for their beautiful music and contemplative style of prayer.

Learn more about Taize
Holy Trinity Anglican Church – Friday, May 31, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm
Learn more about the ecumenical Community of Taize in France.  Brought to you by the Anglican Fellowship of Prayer, please join us for this workshop. Taize is famous for its contemplative music and meditative style of worship, but they also do reconciliation work around the world, and have a deep-seated commitment to the poor.  This is an opportunity to learn more about Taize, lead Taize-style prayer (and sing in different languages), or consider possibly travelling to Taize one day.  The day will be a mix of worship, song, practice, Bible study and informative sessions dotted with real-life stories from someone who has spent a lot of time at Taize.
Workshop leader is the Rev. Clara King, Incumbent of St. George Anglican Church in NE Calgary.  Go to www.eventbrite.ca/e/learn-more-about-taize-tickets-56083027846   to register.

U of C Nursing Program
In partnership with a local elementary school, the University of Calgary Nursing Student cohort is supporting a clothing drive for the winter of 2019/2020. We are  requesting your assistance through the donation of new or gently used clothing items for students.  Due to Calgary’s abundance of extreme cold days, we are specifically requesting jackets and other warm clothes. For our K-6 students, we are looking for new or gently used (pre-washed and in good repair): Jackets , Hoodies , Sweaters , Snow pants , Toques or warm hats , Gloves or mittens.
We would also appreciate brand new socks, still in their packaging. Drop clothing items off at St. Andrew’s in the box across from Kate’s office. Donations will be accepted up to June 1, 2019. For more information contact Ann-Marie Carroll at University of Calgary at amcarrol@ucalgary.ca or Nic Thibault at University of Calgary dominic.thibault@ucalgary.ca.

Parking!!
Foothills Village Condo Board has voted to allow us to park in their VISITOR parking on Sunday mornings until 1pm.  They have also reopened the fence from their property to our alley! A big thanks to Patrick Carmichael, President of the Board for being such a good friend to St. Andrew’s! If you do receive a ticket, please let Christine know, so we can work out any kinks in the system.

Driver(s) Wanted! We have a few parishioners living at Chartwell Colonel Belcher who need a ride to come to church. It is only a 5 minute drive from church and you need space for a walker. Please let Christine know if you are willing to help fill this pastoral need.
