EfM Information evening:
7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 10
at St. Andrew’s Church, 1611 St. Andrew’s Place, NW
Meet present students, see the materials, ask questions.
If a new group forms the meeting time and place will be chosen by the participants.
For information call Cathie Hall 403-554-2824

Blank Canvas Fundraiser
We are almost 2/3rds of the way to completing our communal artwork with 201 tiles donated, painted and installed! Our next painting workshop will be Sunday, May 28 when we want to paint another 50+ tiles! Please claim any tiles already donated by this date. You can do this by speaking with Christine any time. We may add a weekday time in May if there are enough tiles ready to be painted.

Children, Youth and Family Ministry
The advertising for this new position, including a detailed job description, is now posted on our website and through Facebook. Please share the information widely and keep this ministry in your prayers!

Grounds Improvement
We are hoping to begin construction shortly, with it lasting 2-3 weeks, weather permitting! (Please pray for no more snow!) We expect to still be able to use the parking lot but that entrance may be unavailable at times. If you would like any of the plants adjacent to the north side of the lot, please take them out before May 8. Speak to Pat Mosca or Dick Ridley for more information.

Bible Study on the Book of Genesis
The Calgary Inter-Faith Council invites you to join a five-week Interfaith Bible Study looking at the Book of Genesis from Creation to The Flood, on Tuesday afternoons in May (May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30) from 1:00 to 2:30, at Beth Tzedec Congregation (1325 Glenmore Trail SW).  This is a free event and open to all.  Please register at wisdomcentre@stlaurence.ca or by calling the St. Laurence church office at (403) 249-6184.  The sessions will be facilitated by Rabbi Shaul Osadchey of Beth Tzedec, Rabbi Mark Glickman of Temple B’nai Tikvah, The Rev. Tara Livingston of Holy Nativity, and The Rev. Anna Greenwood-Lee of St. Laurence and The Wisdom Centre.

Ladies Spring Potluck
Jeanne Mosca  has offered her hospitality for the ladies spring pot luck supper on Friday 2nd  June, all other details will come later.

St. Andrew’s Jazz Night
St Andrews invites family and friends to a Jazz Concert presenting the Caity Gyorgy Quartet Saturday June 10th at 7pm. Please bring your own snack and some to share, and your choice of beverage. Enjoy great music and hospitality!

Trickle-Down economic theory and justice: are they mutually exclusive?
In an age of shifting economic orthodoxies, can the creation of ever more wealth lead to greater economic justice for society as a whole?  On Monday May 29th from 7-8:30 pm Philip Zachariah and Lloyd Northcott will lead a session with presentations and discussion.   It takes place at St Andrew’s and guests are welcome.  Philip will elaborate on Trickle Down Theory and Lloyd will explore the Christian tradition of social justice.  There will be time for discussion and all shades of opinion will be welcome.

 Financial News
St. Andrew’s family has raised $28, 155 to update our parking entrance bringing us within $2,000 of our fundraising goal!  Kudos to everyone for their great support. Our operating deficit to the end of March is less than budgeted and the increasing numbers of direct deposits is encouraging.

Parish Photo Directory
St. Andrew’s now has the ability to create a Photo Directory and our own Kara Hallett has kindly offered to be our photographer! Starting on Easter Sunday and for a few of the following Sundays, Kara will be available to take pictures of our parishioners. Our goal is to have the directory ready for June.

Did you know….
we are now able to update our new website in-house, thereby saving roughly $1500 per year on day-to-day maintenance?

Attitude of Gratitude
Many thanks to the cooks, bakers, servers and dishwashers who contributed to our Lenten Lunch program.  Hearty lunches and wonderful fellowship was enjoyed by all and $693.75 was raised for the Diocesan Refugee Committee.
